Coconut halves hung in a garden are one of the oldest tricks in bird feeding, mostly because birds already know exactly what to do with one the moment it appears. The shell does the holding; the filling does the attracting.

This is a half coconut shell filled with mealworm suet, sold as a single feeder for wild birds. It is described as biodegradable, and the suet inside is built around mealworm as the named protein source.

• Half coconut shell, filled with suet
• Mealworm suet filling
• Biodegradable shell
• Hangs by the coconut's own built-in string
• A treat-style feed rather than a full diet

What the makers don't tell us. There's no weight given for this one, and the description text supplied to us reads more like sales copy than a spec sheet, so we can't quote an exact amount of suet inside. Treat it as a seasonal, high-energy treat feeder rather than something to measure a bird's daily diet against.

Who it's for: garden bird feeders wanting an easy, hang-and-forget feeder rather than a refillable feeder that needs topping up regularly.
