Most cats will not wear a costume, and the ones that will usually accept a cape when they will accept nothing else. Nothing goes over the legs, nothing wraps the belly, and the cat can back out of it in a second if it decides to - which is exactly the property you want. The hood does the work in the photograph and the rest simply lies across the shoulders.

It is polyester, cut in one piece with the deer detail on the cape itself, and made in red and in green. The single fastening at the front is the only point of contact, so there is very little to catch on a chair leg or a doorframe. That said, one loose fastening is still a fastening, and a cat that shrugs a cape sideways can end up wearing it as a collar.
