Cats lose muscle condition more easily than owners often expect, especially as they get older or once they're neutered and naturally less active, and a diet built around a higher protein figure is one of the more straightforward ways to work against that.

Named chicken makes up 15% of the recipe (bone, meat, skin), but it isn't the only chicken-derived ingredient — dried poultry protein and dried chicken protein both appear separately in the list, alongside wheat, rice (7%), corn gluten meal and dried chicory root (2%) as a prebiotic. It's a complete dry food working out at 40% protein, 15% fat, 8% ash and 2.5% fibre, with Purina's feeding guide adjusted for neutered cats as well as entire ones.

• Chicken 15% (bone, meat, skin), plus separate dried poultry and chicken protein
• Protein 40%, fat 15%, ash 8%, fibre 2.5%
• Contains wheat and rice (7%) — not grain-free
• Feeding guide differs for neutered cats: e.g. 25-50g/day for a 2-4kg neutered cat against 30-55g/day for an entire one
• Complete food for adult cats

What the label does not say. The 15% figure for named chicken understates how much of this recipe is actually chicken-derived, since dried poultry protein and dried chicken protein are both separate entries on the ingredient list — but Purina don't give a combined total, so we can't put one number on it. There's also no taurine or vitamin breakdown given on this card, unlike some of Purina's other recipes.

Who it's for: owners of an adult cat, neutered or not, who want a higher-protein dry food and are happy to follow Purina's separate feeding guide for neutered weight management.
