Licking and scratching a sore patch tends to make it worse, which is the cycle these wipes are built to interrupt from two directions at once — soothing the itch itself, and putting a taste on the skin that discourages more licking.

Petkin's Itch Stop Wipes combine witch hazel, aloe vera gel, comfrey, oatmeal and vitamins A, B and E for cooling relief, alongside a bitter taste deterrent to reduce further licking, biting or scratching. Each wipe is pulled from the roll and used directly on the affected area, up to three or four times a day as needed.

• 30 wipes per pack
• Contains witch hazel, aloe vera gel, comfrey, oatmeal and vitamins A, B and E
• Includes a bitter taste deterrent
• Use up to 3-4 times daily as needed
• Test on a small area before first use

One thing worth knowing. This is aimed at occasional, minor irritation rather than an underlying cause — Petkin's own advice is to test on a small area first in case of allergy or sensitive skin, and a patch that stays sore, spreads or doesn't settle with regular use is a reason to see a vet rather than keep wiping it.

Who it's for: owners managing an occasional itchy or irritated patch on a dog or cat who want something to hand between full vet visits.
