How to measure

Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Lunar New Year photographs are taken indoors, in warm rooms, over a couple of hours, which is exactly the situation a knitted neck piece is made for. It sits round the neck like a scarf, gives a strong splash of red where the camera is already looking, and covers none of the body, so a cat can wash, stretch and walk off without the whole thing sliding round underneath and ending up somewhere undignified.

It is hand-knitted in red with a fluffy trim, gold tassels and an embroidered motif, and the designs run from a cute dragon and a lion dance to two versions of the Nian monster. The knit gives it enough weight to sit properly rather than curling up at the edges, which is the usual failing of light festive collars. Two sizes are offered, small and medium, which places it firmly with cats and small dogs rather than anything bigger.
