Specifications

Brand: Peckish

Full description

A garden bird's calorie need doesn't stay flat through the year — it climbs sharply once the temperature drops, which is the entire reason a "winter" seed mix exists as its own product rather than a marketing label on the standard one.

This is a high-energy seed mix with added Clavita nutrients, sold in a large 12.75kg bag suited to a feeder that's used through the colder months rather than topped up occasionally. Peckish recommend it for use on both a hanging feeder and a bird table, and name robins, nuthatches, greenfinches, chaffinches, goldfinches, house sparrows, great tits, blue tits, coal tits, long-tailed tits and blackcaps as the birds it's aimed at.

High-energy formulation with added Clavita nutrients
Suitable for feeder or table use
Named for robins, nuthatches, finches, sparrows, tits and blackcaps
12.75KG bag

On the size. At 12.75kg this is a genuinely large bag, built for someone feeding through a whole winter rather than topping up a single feeder now and then. It isn't the right size to try a mix for the first time — that's a smaller bag's job.

Who it's for: anyone running one or more garden feeders through autumn and winter who wants a high-energy mix without buying every few weeks.

Peckish Winter Warmer High Energy Wild Bird Seed Mix

Why we chose it

Winter is when a garden bird actually needs the extra energy, and this is sized for someone who's committed to feeding through the whole season rather than dabbling. Naming eleven specific bird species is more useful than a vague 'attracts wild birds' claim on the bag.
