Winter is the season a garden bird can least afford to be picky, which is why an energy-dense suet ball earns a place at the feeder that a plainer seed mix doesn't get in July.

This is a tub of 50 suet energy balls, sold as a complementary treat for wild birds rather than a complete diet. Peckish describe them as attracting a wide range of garden birds, including sparrow, long-tailed tit, chaffinch, song thrush and blue tit, among others, and they're meant to be fed from an energy ball feeder.

• 50 suet energy balls per tub
• Sold as a complementary feed, not a complete diet
• Attracts sparrow, long-tailed tit, chaffinch, song thrush, blue tit and more
• Fed from an energy ball feeder
• Reusable tub format

what the makers haven't told us. There's no ingredient breakdown for the suet mix itself, and no fat or protein figure — only that it's an energy-dense suet ball. Treat it as a supplementary feed alongside a proper seed mix rather than the only thing on offer.

Who it's for: anyone running an energy ball feeder who wants a bulk tub of 50 rather than buying nets a handful at a time.
