Specifications

Brand: Bucktons

Full description

A peanut still in its shell asks more of a visiting bird than a shelled one does, and that's not a downside — the extra effort spreads feeding out over longer and suits species built to work at a husk rather than just scoop up loose kernels.

This is a straightforward bag of whole peanuts, sold in the shell. Beyond the pack size, Bucktons have not supplied us with a nutritional breakdown, a species suitability guide, or feeding instructions, so there is very little else on the card to add to what the product plainly is.

Whole peanuts, in the shell
12.5KG bag
No nutritional analysis supplied

What we don't know. No protein, fat or nutritional breakdown has been supplied for this product, and no guidance on which garden birds it particularly suits or how to feed it safely has come through to us either — general good practice with any peanut feed, checking it regularly and offering it via a proper feeder, applies regardless.

Who it's for: anyone feeding a garden that already has a peanut feeder set up and wants a large bag of whole, in-shell peanuts to keep it topped up.

Peanuts in Shell

Why we chose it

A 12.5kg bag is the size for someone feeding a garden through a season rather than topping up a single feeder now and again, and whole peanuts in the shell are the traditional format most bird feeders are built around. It's a simple, no-frills staple.
