A small animal without anywhere to hide will often show it through stress rather than obvious hiding behaviour - pacing, over-grooming, staying still in the open when they'd normally retreat. A tunnel gives them the option to disappear from view whenever they choose to, which is most of what a hideaway needs to do.

Nature First make this tunnel from 100% natural grass, which doubles as something safe to gnaw and chew rather than being purely a hiding spot. Chewing on natural fibre is linked to healthy teeth and gums, and the tunnel is built to be long lasting, robust and strong enough for small animals to climb on as well as through. Owners can pad it out with hay to make it a cosier, more enclosed spot to nest in.

• 100% natural grass construction

• 22cm size

On the fit. Nature First don't give an internal diameter on this card, only the 22cm overall size, so if you're buying for a larger small animal it's worth checking that figure suits your pet rather than assuming from the product name alone.

Who it's for: owners of rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals who want a natural hideaway that doubles as something safe to chew, rather than a plastic tunnel with nothing to gnaw on.
