Gravel does more for an aquarium's look than almost anything else in it, and a colour that actually holds rather than clouding the water within a week is worth paying attention to before it goes anywhere near the tank.

Marina's gravel is epoxy-coated, which Marina say keeps it inert so it doesn't affect water chemistry, and they note that coated gravel gives beneficial bacteria a good surface to colonise for biological filtration. This pink gravel is dust-free, sits in the 4-7mm size range, and is sold in a 2kg bag suitable for both fresh and saltwater setups.

On rinsing before use. Marina describe the coating as inert for water chemistry but don't give a rinse-before-use instruction on this card — most aquarium gravel benefits from a rinse regardless, so treat that as a sensible default rather than a step this listing confirms.

Who it's for: anyone building a bright, colourful aquascape who wants gravel that won't leach into the water over time.
