Specifications

Brand: Marina

Full description

Gravel in a tank is not just decoration — it is also where a lot of the bacteria doing the actual filtration work live, which is why what it's coated with matters more than the colour.

This is Marina's epoxy-coated decorative gravel in the Jelly Bean colourway, 2kg net weight. The epoxy coating makes the gravel inert, so it will not affect water chemistry, and Marina say it also gives beneficial bacteria a good surface to colonise for biological filtration. It's sold dust-free and suitable for both fresh and saltwater aquariums.

What's missing here. No grain size is given, so if a specific grade of gravel matters for your setup or the fish you keep, this card does not give you the figure to check it against.

Who it's for: aquarium keepers wanting decorative, inert gravel in a bright colourway for a fresh or saltwater tank, rather than plain natural gravel.

Marina Gravel Jelly Bean

Why we chose it

Epoxy-coated gravel being genuinely inert is the detail that matters more than the colour — cheaper uncoated decorative gravel can shift water chemistry over time, which this is specifically built not to do. Dust-free packaging also means less cloudy water when it first goes in.
