Marina's gravel guard is built specifically to stop that happening, which is the difference between a clean that takes five minutes and one that involves picking gravel out of a bucket afterwards.

This is the Mini size, with a cleaning tube measuring 2.54cm (1 inch) in diameter and 25cm (10 inches) long, fitted with 1.83m (6ft) of non-kink hosing. It has a quick-start feature for a faster, easier startup than sucking on the tube by mouth, and the oval-shaped cleaning tube is designed to reach into tank corners that a round tube would miss.
