Full description

Calcium doesn't usually make it onto a bird-feed ingredient list, which is what makes the limestone flour in this one worth pointing out.

This bird butter combines wheat flour, peanut butter and beef suet with a seed mix, hemp seed and limestone flour added through it. It analyses at 29% crude fat, 8% crude protein, 3% crude fibre and 1% crude ash, and pushes into a compatible feeder for a snug fit, the same as the rest of the range.

On the limestone flour. Limestone flour is a mineral (calcium) addition rather than a food ingredient in the usual sense — it's genuinely on the label, but the exact proportion of the mix it makes up isn't stated separately, so it should be read as a small mineral supplement to the suet base rather than a headline ingredient.

Who it's for: garden bird feeders who want the seed-and-nut version of this suet range specifically, rather than the plain or insect versions.

Why we chose it

Hemp seed and a mineral addition set this apart from the plainer version in the same range, without changing the fat figure that makes suet worth putting out in the first place. It's the version to reach for if you want more going on in the feeder than suet alone.
