Full description

The plainest version of a suet product is often the most useful one to have on the shelf, because some birds — and some feeders — just don't need anything more than fat and protein.

This bird butter is made from three ingredients only: wheat flour, peanut butter and beef suet, with no seed mix or extras added. It analyses at 29% crude fat, 8% crude protein, 3% crude fibre and 1% crude ash, and the pot pushes into a compatible feeder for a snug fit.

Crude fat 29%, crude protein 8%, crude fibre 3%, crude ash 1%
Push into a compatible feeder; remove and refill once empty
No seed mix or added extras
375g pot

On why it's plainer than the alternatives. The same brand sell versions of this base recipe with seeds, mealworms or larvae added; this one has none of that, which suits a fussier bird or a feeder where seed husks are a mess to sweep up, but it also means less variety in one pot than the other versions in the range.

Who it's for: anyone feeding a wildlife feeder that doesn't need seed added, or who wants a simple, high-fat suet product without extras mixed in.

Why we chose it

Fewer ingredients is sometimes exactly the point — this is the base recipe without anything added, which some feeders and fussier birds actually prefer. The 29% fat figure is unchanged from the more complicated versions, so nothing nutritional is lost by keeping it simple.
