Cats decide whether they like a food in about the time it takes to sniff it, and a box that only ever holds one flavour puts everything on that first guess. A mixed selection spreads the risk across four recipes instead of one.

This is a 32-tin box of Lily's Kitchen wet food, 70g per tin, split across four broth recipes — Chicken, Chicken with Mussels, Tuna, and Tuna with Salmon, eight tins of each. All four are sold as complete foods rather than something to spoon over dry. The Chicken recipe is built around 50% chicken, cooked with sunflower oil and a little chicken stock, thickened with dried tapioca starch; the Chicken with Mussels recipe carries the same base with 46% chicken and 4% mussels added.

• 70g tins, 32 per box (eight of each of four recipes)
• Chicken recipe: 50% chicken, protein 16.5%, fat 3%, 96kcal/100g
• Tuna recipe: 50% tuna, protein 15%, fat 2.5%, 85kcal/100g
• All four recipes are complete foods, not toppers
• Chicken and Chicken with Mussels carry 886mg/kg taurine
• No added sugar or grain, per Lily's Kitchen's own ingredient list

What the label doesn't cover. Our source gives the full composition and nutrient breakdown for three of the four recipes here — Chicken, Chicken with Mussels and Tuna. The fourth, Tuna with Salmon, is named on the box but its exact percentages weren't supplied to us, and neither tuna-based recipe carries a published taurine figure, where the two chicken recipes do (886mg/kg). Taurine matters for cats, so if that specific figure decides it for you, check the tin itself when it arrives.

Who it's for: owners feeding more than one cat, or a single cat that gets bored of one flavour fast — the four-recipe split means nobody in the house eats the same thing every night.
