Specifications

Brand: Komodo

Full description

A wild tortoise spends most of its day grazing on exactly the kind of low-growing plants a garden lawn produces without being asked, and dandelion is one of the genuine ones — which is presumably why Komodo chose it as a flavour rather than inventing something more exotic.

Komodo describe this as a complete holistic diet for popular pet tortoise species, formulated with a calcium to phosphorous ratio of 3.5:1 and free from artificial additives, preservatives, flavours or colours. It can be fed dry, straight from the tub, or with a little water added to bring out the flavour. This 340g tub sits in a range that also includes 170g, 680g and 2kg sizes.

Dandelion flavour, described as a complete holistic diet
Calcium to phosphorous ratio of 3.5:1
No artificial additives, preservatives, flavours or colours
Can be fed dry or with water added
340g tub (also sold in 170g, 680g and 2kg)

What the label does not say. Komodo describe this as high in fibre and as a complete diet, but the card gives us no protein, fibre or fat percentage to back either claim — the only figure we can confirm is the 3.5:1 calcium to phosphorous ratio.

Who it's for: tortoise keepers wanting a dry, dandelion-flavoured diet they can serve as-is or moisten, rather than a fresh-only feeding routine.

Komodo Tortoise Food - Dandelion Flavour

Why we chose it

The calcium to phosphorous ratio is the one number Komodo actually publish, and it's a figure tortoise keepers specifically look for, which is more than most flavoured tortoise diets bother to state. It also comes in four pack sizes, so it's easy to size to how many tortoises you're feeding.
