Specifications

Brand: Komodo

Full description

Dandelion is one of the few things an owner can pick straight from their own garden for a pet tortoise, so a tinned version of the same flavour might look redundant at first — the difference is this one is a complete manufactured diet, not a fresh-leaf treat.

This is a complete holistic diet made without artificial additives, preservatives, flavours or colours, formulated with a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 3.5:1 and described by Komodo as high in fibre. It can be fed dry or with a little water added to bring out the flavour, and this 170g tub sits at the small end of a range that also runs to 340g, 680g and 2kg.

Complete diet, not a supplement or treat
No artificial additives, preservatives, flavours or colours
Calcium to phosphorus ratio 3.5:1
Can be fed dry or with water added
170G tub, part of a 170g-2kg range

One thing to flag. This is a manufactured complete diet in a dandelion flavour, not fresh dandelion leaf, and Komodo don't state what proportion, if any, of the recipe is actual dandelion versus flavouring. If the goal is feeding real dandelion specifically, this tub isn't a substitute for that.

Who it's for: keepers who already forage dandelion for their tortoise and want a shelf-stable complete diet in a similar flavour for the days that isn't practical.

Komodo Tortoise Food Dandelion

Why we chose it

This is the flavour to stock for anyone whose tortoise already goes for dandelion in the garden, on the idea that a familiar taste means less fuss at the bowl. It's the same complete-diet formulation as the rest of Komodo's range, just in a different flavour.
