Cichlids feed differently to goldfish — many take food as it drifts down through the water rather than off the surface or the gravel, which is why a stick food shaped to float and slowly break down suits them better than one that just sits on top.

This is a complete food for medium-large and ornamental cichlids, made with herring meal, shrimp meal and salmon oil among the named ingredients, plus natural antioxidants and added multivitamins for immune support. King British say it's free from artificial flavours and preservatives, and the floating format means fish can take it through the water column rather than only at the surface.

On the numbers. No protein, fat or fibre percentage is published for this pack, so there's no guaranteed analysis to compare against a different cichlid stick. The ingredient list — herring, shrimp, salmon oil — is what there is to judge this one on.

Who it's for: keepers of medium to large cichlids who want a floating stick food rather than a sinking pellet, particularly in a tank where fish feed mid-water.
