A bird table earns repeat visits when there is something in the mix a plain seed blend does not offer, and dried fruit is usually that something — it is what turns a once-a-week visitor into a regular.

This is a seed-based mix built on sunflower hearts, split maize, red dari, wheat, natural groats and white millet, with black rape, peanut granules and currants added and a vegetable oil coating to bind it. Johnston & Jeff give a typical protein figure of 15.64% and an energy value of 441 kcal per 100g.

• Composition: sunflower hearts, split maize, red dari, wheat, natural groats, white millet, black rape, peanut granules, currants, vegetable oil
• Typical protein 15.64%
• Energy 441 kcal per 100g
• Suitable for tits, bramblings, finches, dunnocks, buntings, sparrows and linnets
• 20KG bag
• Contains wheat and other cereals, so not a grain-free mix

On the currants. Johnston & Jeff don't publish what share of the mix is fruit against seed, so "with Fruit" is one ingredient among ten rather than a headline percentage. If you're feeding a species that should avoid dried fruit, that absence of a figure is worth knowing before you fill the table.

Who it's for: anyone feeding a mixed garden crowd — tits and finches alongside sparrows and buntings — who wants one bag that covers most visitors rather than running several feeders with different mixes.
