Specifications

Brand: Johnson's
Food type: Complementary_or_treat

Full description

A seed mix on its own is a diet a bird can eat without ever making a choice, which is part of why a treat that has to be worked at — pecked off a stick rather than tipped into a bowl — earns its keep as enrichment as much as a snack.

This one is a fruity seed stick from Johnson's: selected seeds, nuts and cereals bound with honey, then studded with dried apple, banana, raisins and currants. It's a 45G stick meant to be given as an occasional extra rather than a meal replacement, and it's classed as a complementary treat rather than a complete food.

45G seed and fruit stick
Selected seeds, nuts, cereals and honey
Dried apple, banana, raisins and currants
Complementary treat, not a complete diet
For cockatiels, parrots and similar birds

What's not on the label. Johnson's don't publish a protein, fat or fibre breakdown for this stick, and there's no feeding frequency guidance supplied either — so treat it the way you would any treat, as an extra rather than a routine.

Who it's for: owners of cockatiels, parrots and similar birds who want an occasional pecking treat rather than another bowl of seed.

Johnson's Cockatiel/Parrot Fruity Stick

Why we chose it

A stick treat gives a bird something to work at rather than just eat, which matters more for a caged bird's day than the flavour does. It's a small, cheap way to break up a routine that's otherwise the same seed bowl every day.
