An older cat's heart does not send a warning before it starts working harder than it should. Taurine is one of the few things a diet can control for it, which is why it turns up by name on senior formulas rather than adult ones.

This is James Wellbeloved's senior recipe, built around chicken as the single protein at 20% dried chicken protein, with taurine added at 2000mg per kg to support the heart and glucosamine and chondroitin included at trace levels for joints. Brown and white rice provide the carbohydrate, and the usual exclusions, beef, pork, soya, eggs, dairy, wheat, apply.
