Iams Adult Dry Cat Food Ocean Fish

Ask a cat which biscuit it prefers and going by smell alone the answer is usually whichever one most resembles something that used to swim — which is presumably the thinking behind naming a range "Ocean Fish."

The fish content behind that name is 4% ocean fish. The bulk of the recipe, as with the rest of this IAMS range, is dried chicken and turkey at 40% (24% of that is chicken), so the flavour on the front is closer to a seasoning than the main ingredient. It's a complete and balanced food for adult cats aged 1 year and over, at 35% protein and 14% fat, with a tailored fibre blend built around dried beet pulp.

On the flavour, and the label. "Ocean Fish" describes 4% of what's in the bag; chicken is doing most of the nutritional work, same as elsewhere in this range. It isn't grain-free either — maize and rice both appear in the composition — so treat any "grain-free" description of it, including an earlier one on this site, as wrong. The wheat-free claim does hold, with the usual factory-handles-wheat caveat.

Who it's for: owners buying for a cat that prefers a fish-flavoured biscuit, and owners who simply want variety across an IAMS-fed household — not anyone looking for a fish-first or grain-free diet.
