A cat that eats only dry food is relying on the water bowl to make up the difference, and cats are famously bad at using one. A wet pouch carries the water in with the meal, which is the quiet argument for feeding jelly at least some of the time.

This box holds 32 pouches across two recipes. Tuna Flakes is dolphin-safe tuna at 50%; Tuna with Mackerel is dolphin-safe tuna at 35% with mackerel at 15%. Both then run sunflower oil, yeast extract, cassava extract, minerals, chicory extract and yucca extract, and both are grain free with no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. HiLife formulate it as a complete food for adult cats, so it is a meal rather than a topper.

• 32 pouches per box, 70G each
• Complete food for adult cats
• Protein 11%, fat 5%, crude fibres 0.1%, crude ash 1%
• Moisture 83%
• Taurine at 550 mg/kg in the Tuna Flakes recipe
• Grain free, no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives

On the two recipes. HiLife do not say how the 32 pouches split between Tuna Flakes and Tuna with Mackerel, so a cat that will only accept one of them is a gamble on a box this size. Worth knowing too that the headline protein of 11% is as fed, against 83% moisture — that is normal for a jelly pouch and it is not comparable to a dry food's number.

Who it's for: owners of adult cats who want a fish-led wet food bought by the box rather than the pouch, and anyone trying to get more water into a cat that ignores the bowl.
