HiLife Cat Ocean Fish Recipes in Jelly Pouch 32 Pack

Cats came from somewhere dry and never really learned to drink. They evolved taking most of their water out of whatever they caught, and that — rather than how much they enjoy it — is the honest argument for putting wet food in front of one.

This is a box of 32 pouches at 70g, holding two recipes. The Ocean Fish pouch is 50% ocean fish, and unusually the label breaks that down by species: dolphin-safe tuna 20%, sardine 16% and mackerel 14%, rather than hiding it all inside a fish derivatives line. The Sardine & Tuna Flakes pouch is sardine 26% and dolphin-safe tuna 26%. Both then run sunflower oil, yeast extract, cassava extract, minerals, and chicory and yucca extracts at 50 mg/kg each. Both analyse the same: protein 12.5%, fat content 3.5%, crude fibres 0.1%, crude ash 1.2% and moisture 82%. HiLife describe the range as grain free, gently steamed, hand prepared and free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives, and as a complete food for adult cats.

Moisture is 82%, and the jelly is where most of that sits. That is normal for a pouch and it is half the reason to feed one, but it does mean the 12.5% protein figure cannot be compared with the number on a bag of dry food — the two only line up once the water is taken out, and no dry matter figure or calorie value reached us. Nor did any feeding guide: no pouches per day, no weight bands, nothing. Read the box. And the split between the two recipes inside a 32 pack was never specified to us either, so how many of each you get is not something we can promise in advance.
