A pâté is a different eating experience for a cat than a chunk-in-jelly food, and some cats will only ever take to one texture or the other — which is worth knowing before writing a food off as "fussy" on the strength of a different style.

HiLife's Chicken Dinner Pâté Pouch is made from chicken at 50%, along with yeast extract, cassava extract, minerals, sunflower oil, and chicory and yucca extracts. It's grain free with no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives, gently steamed and hand prepared, and free from fillers, GMOs and soya. The analysis is protein 8.0%, fat content 8.0%, crude fibre 0.1%, crude ash 1.0% and moisture 83.0%, and it's a complete food for adult cats.

On the texture. This is a pâté, a smoother, more solid texture than a jelly or gravy-based wet food — if your cat has only ever eaten chunks or flakes in sauce, a pâté can be a genuine change rather than just a different flavour, and it's worth trying one pouch before committing to a case.

Who it's for: owners of an adult cat that takes to pâté-style food, and anyone specifically looking for a grain-free, filler-free wet food.
