Material: high impact polystyrene

Full description

A lightweight food bowl is an invitation for a hamster to tip it over and scatter the contents through the bedding, which is the entire reason a heavier, sturdier pot is worth having over a flimsy dish.

This is a Hatchwells Hamster Pot, made from high impact polystyrene rather than a lighter plastic, measuring 90mm x 90mm x 32mm, and made in Great Britain.

On the pack: Hatchwells don't publish a capacity in grams or millilitres for this pot, so use the dimensions above to judge how much food it will hold for your own animal rather than a volume figure we can't confirm.

Who it's for: owners of hamsters and other small animals who've had a lighter bowl tipped over one too many times.

Why we chose it

High impact polystyrene is genuinely tougher than the thin plastic some cheaper feeding pots use, which matters with an animal that pushes a bowl around rather than eating from it quietly. Being made in Great Britain is worth knowing if that's something you look for.
