A bird pecking at a smooth peanut butter surface is working harder for the same mouthful than one working a grooved one, which is the reasoning behind the shape rather than the flavour doing the work.

This is the orange variety in Happy Bird's Peanut Butter Nuggets range, formed with specially developed grooves for easier peck-ability and sold as a complementary treat. Happy Bird's own description for this range names woodpeckers, blue tits and robins among the birds it attracts, and it can be fed from a suet nugget feeder, a suet ball feeder, or simply placed on a bird table.

what the makers haven't told us. No ingredient breakdown is given for the orange flavouring itself, and the supplied description for this range only mentions the Original Peanut and Peanut with Berries varieties by name — not orange specifically. Beyond the flavour name on the pack, there's nothing further to go on for what distinguishes this one.

Who it's for: anyone feeding a suet nugget or ball feeder who wants to try the orange variation alongside proper seed feeding.
