Adding fruit to a suet-style spread is aimed at the birds that prefer something sweeter than plain fat, which is why a berry-flavoured bark butter sits alongside the plain original rather than replacing it.

This is Happy Bird's Peanut & Berries Bark Butter, a 500G tub used the same way as the Original — with their own Bark Butter Feeder or spread directly onto tree bark — and usable all year round according to Happy Bird.

• 500G tub, Peanut & Berries flavour
• Used with the Bark Butter Feeder, or spread directly onto tree bark
• Happy Bird say it suits year-round use
• Marketed as suiting woodpeckers, blue tits and robins among other garden birds

On what we weren't told. As with the plain Original, Happy Bird give us the pack size and the method of use and nothing on composition. We can't confirm what proportion is peanut against berry, only that both are named in the flavour.

Who it's for: the same gardens as the Original, for anyone wanting a fruitier option or stocking both flavours side by side.
