Woodpeckers and other bark-feeding birds naturally work insects and grubs out of tree bark, and a butter spread directly onto the bark gives them a reason to visit a spot they'd peck at anyway.

Happy Bird's Bark Butter Original is a 500G tub meant to be used with their own Bark Butter Feeder or spread straight onto tree bark, and Happy Bird say it can be used all year round.

• 500G tub
• Used with the Bark Butter Feeder, or spread directly onto tree bark
• Happy Bird say it suits year-round use
• Marketed as suiting woodpeckers, blue tits and robins among other garden birds

On the ingredients. Happy Bird don't give us a composition or an analysis for this spread, only the pack size and how to use it. If you need to know exactly what's in it before putting it out for birds, that isn't on our card.

Who it's for: gardens that already attract woodpeckers, tits or robins, and owners wanting an alternative to loose suet that can go straight onto a tree.
