Spreading a bird food onto tree bark is a way of matching the feed to how a bird would find food naturally, but bark itself isn't always available where a feeder is needed — which is what a feeder shaped to imitate it is for.

This is Happy Bird's Bark Butter Feeder: a hanging feeder built from high-density plastic, described as durable, weather-resistant and easy to clean, designed to simulate real bark so Bark Butter can be spread onto its surface for garden birds to feed from.

• Constructed from high-density plastic
• Durable and weather-resistant
• Easy to clean
• Designed to simulate real bark
• Single feeder, hangs or screws in place

what the makers haven't told us. There's no dimension or weight given for the feeder itself, and no guidance on how much Bark Butter it holds at once. It's sold as the feeder only — Bark Butter itself is a separate purchase.

Who it's for: anyone without a suitable tree or bark surface nearby who wants to offer Bark Butter to garden birds using a purpose-made feeder instead.
