Goldfish and tropical fish are often treated as interchangeable by owners buying food, but goldfish are coldwater fish with a different metabolism, and a granule formulated specifically for them is a genuine distinction, not a marketing one.

Fluval build this one around Black Soldier Fly Larvae, at up to 32% the largest single ingredient, with whole salmon added for omega 3 and 6. It's a slow-sinking granule, sized 1.4-2.0mm, and Fluval say it's fortified with vitamins, amino acids and minerals, processed in small batches in Canada, with no artificial fillers, colours or preservatives.

What the label does not say. Fluval quantify the insect content but give no protein, fat, fibre or ash percentage on this card, and there's no feeding amount or frequency stated either — you're working from the ingredient list rather than a full nutritional panel.

Who it's for: goldfish keepers wanting an insect-based granule as an alternative to a fish-meal-led food, and specifically want a slow-sinking format for fish that don't feed at the surface.
