Specifications

Brand: Hagen

Full description

A reptile that basks for twenty minutes rather than two hours needs a different UVB strength to one that suns itself all day, and using the wrong strength doesn't announce itself until months later.

Exo Terra's UVB200 is a 7% UVB, Very High Output T5 bulb, 22" long, built using their Sunergy phosphor blend for species that bask occasionally or live in partial sunlight — what Hagen class as Ferguson Zone 2, the Mesophotic Zone. It's designed to run in Exo Terra's T5 Terrarium Top fixture.

22" T5 bulb, 24W
7% UVB output
For Ferguson Zone 2 (Mesophotic Zone) species — occasional or partial-sun baskers
Sunergy phosphor blend
Recommended for use with the T5 Terrarium Top fixture
For reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates only

What the bulb won't tell you. Hagen's own note is that UVB output degrades over time even while the bulb still gives off visible light, so a bulb that looks fine can already be under-delivering UVB — replace it on Exo Terra's stated schedule rather than waiting until it visibly dims.

Who it's for: keepers of reptile species that bask occasionally or live in partial sunlight, rather than a species that basks intensely all day, which needs a stronger bulb than this one.

Why we chose it

Getting the zone right is the actual decision here, and this one is specifically pitched at the middle ground — more UVB than a shade-dweller needs, less than a committed basker needs. The degradation warning is worth repeating to customers because it's the single most common reason a UVB setup quietly stops working.
