Specifications

Brand: Hagen

Full description

A reptile kept under the wrong UVB strength doesn't show it immediately — the problems that come from getting this wrong build up over months, which is why matching the bulb to the species matters more than it looks like it should.

Exo Terra's UVB100 is a 3% UVB, Very High Output T5 bulb, 22" long and rated at 24W, built for nocturnal, crepuscular and shade-dwelling reptiles — what Hagen class as Ferguson Zone 1, the Cryptophotic Zone. It's designed to run with Exo Terra's T5 Terrarium Top fixture, and is intended to be paired with infrared heat and UVA1-rich visible light rather than used as the only light source.

22" T5 bulb, 24W
3% UVB output
For Ferguson Zone 1 (Cryptophotic Zone) species — nocturnal, crepuscular, shade-dwelling reptiles
Recommended for use with the T5 Terrarium Top fixture
For reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates only

What's not stated here. Hagen don't give us a replacement interval for this bulb, and UVB output on any bulb of this kind typically fades before the visible light does — check Exo Terra's own guidance on how often to replace it, rather than waiting until it visibly dims.

Who it's for: keepers of nocturnal, crepuscular or shade-dwelling reptile species who need the lower UVB output of Zone 1 rather than a stronger bulb built for a basking species.

Exo Terra Reptile Uvb100 T5 24w Bulb

Why we chose it

Matching the zone to the species is the part that's easy to get wrong buying UVB by brand alone, and this one is specifically rated for the low-output end of the spectrum rather than a one-size-fits-all bulb. It's built for the T5 Terrarium Top, so it's a straightforward match if you're already running Exo Terra fittings.
