Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

The best thing about a cloak, from a cat's point of view, is that it is barely on. Nothing goes over the head, nothing goes around a leg, and it fastens at the chest, which means that when your cat decides they have finished, the whole thing comes away in one movement rather than needing to be wrestled off a twisting animal. That single detail is why cloaks succeed with cats where proper costumes fail.
