There is a wide gap between "that is nothing" and "that needs a vet", and most of what happens to an animal outdoors lands somewhere in it: a scrape off a fence panel, a nick from a bramble, a bite that gets scratched into something worse than it started as. What you want in the cupboard for that gap is the mildest thing that is still useful, not the strongest thing on the shelf.

Bugalugs build this one on hypochlorous acid, which they describe as a disinfectant an animal's own immune system produces in response to infections. The spray is pH balanced and contains no alcohol, no preservatives and no fragrance, which is the reason they say it can be used around the mouth, ears, nose and other sensitive areas. They state it is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal and kills 99.99% of germs, and they list it for dogs, cats, horses, birds, reptiles and all other small animals. The bottle is 200ML.

Where this stops. The uses Bugalugs themselves list are skin disinfection, cuts and grazes, minor wounds, insect bites and post-surgery wound care. A wound that is deep, gaping, bleeding properly, hot, swollen, smelly or simply not closing is a vet's job rather than a spray's; and if your own vet has given you instructions for a surgical site, follow theirs over anything on this bottle. Bugalugs also publish no concentration for the hypochlorous acid and no shelf life once opened, so there is no way to tell from the label how long a bottle stays at full strength after you first use it.
