Full description

A graze on a dog's nose or paw gets reopened within minutes just by them going about their day, which is why a spray that doesn't need rinsing off matters more here than on skin that can be left to heal quietly.

This is a no-rinse antiseptic spray built around hypochlorous acid at under 5% active chlorine, plus a small amount of salt in water. Bugalugs' instructions are to spray it liberally onto the affected area at least twice daily and let it dry naturally, and it can also be applied to a dressing rather than the skin directly. It's aimed at skin disinfection, cuts and grazes, minor wounds and post-surgery wound care, and it's dermatologically tested and described as hypoallergenic. It comes in a 200ml bottle.

  • Hypochlorous acid formula, under 5% active chlorine, plus a small amount of salt
  • No-rinse, dries naturally
  • Spray liberally at least twice daily
  • Can be applied to a dressing as well as directly
  • For cuts, grazes, minor wounds and post-surgery wound care
  • Dermatologically tested, described as hypoallergenic

What this spray is, and isn't. This is an antiseptic for cuts, grazes and minor wounds — Bugalugs' own instruction is to contact a vet if irritation occurs rather than keep spraying through it, and a wound that isn't healing, or looks infected, needs a vet's opinion rather than more applications.

Who it's for: owners dealing with the small cuts, grazes and post-surgery sites that come up regularly with an active dog, wanting something that doesn't need rinsing off between applications.

Giddy Pets

Why we chose it

A spray you can use twice a day without wrestling a dog into a rinse afterwards is the one that actually gets used consistently. Hypochlorous acid is a genuinely different mechanism to the usual antiseptic sting, which matters on a sensitive nose or paw.
