Specifications

Brand: Bucktons

Full description

A feeder filled with a single seed gets visited by fewer species than one filled with a mixed blend, but the birds that do come — finches, tits, nuthatches among them — tend to visit more often, because they're not picking through seed they don't want to get to the seed they do.

This is a "straight": striped sunflower seeds on their own, not a mixed blend of grains and seeds. It's sold as a large 12.75KG sack, aimed at anyone filling a hopper or ground feeder regularly rather than buying small bags each time.

A single-seed straight of striped sunflower seeds, not a mixed blend
Sold in a 12.75KG sack
No protein, fat or fibre analysis supplied for this product
No storage or use-by guidance supplied

What's missing here. Beyond a general claim of quality raw materials sourced from reputable growers, Bucktons haven't given us a composition, an analysis or a recommended feeder type for this one. It's one of the thinner cards in the range — what you're buying is the seed itself rather than a documented product.

Who it's for: anyone running a sunflower-only feeding station, or wanting to fill a large hopper without paying for seed a mixed-blend bird will leave behind.

Bucktons Medium Stripe Sunflowers

Why we chose it

Buying a straight sunflower seed rather than a pre-mixed blend means nothing in the sack goes to waste on birds that won't touch it. It's also sold as a large sack, which suits anyone topping up a feeder regularly rather than buying small bags each time.
