Specifications

Brand: Bucktons

Full description

Some feeders exist purely to top up a mixed seed blend with the one ingredient a particular bird actually wants, and hempseed is one of the classics for that — a single, oil-rich seed rather than a mix of grains competing for space in the same scoop.

Bucktons sell this as a plain hempseed straight, with no other seeds blended in. The company's own history is the only supporting material on the card here: over 200 years selling wild bird and other feed products, sourcing what they describe as quality raw materials from growers worldwide.

On what isn't published here. Bucktons don't supply a protein, oil or energy analysis for this specific product, a species-suitability list, or feeding guidance beyond the general claim of quality and consistency. If you're buying this to add to your own mix, you're going on hempseed's general reputation among bird feeders rather than a number from this card.

Who it's for: owners already feeding a mixed seed blend who want to top it up with plain hempseed for the species that go for it, rather than someone looking for a complete feeding solution in one bag.

Bucktons Hempseed

Why we chose it

Hempseed as a straight, rather than buried in a blend, is what you actually need if you're trying to boost one ingredient in your own mix rather than start again with a new bag. Bucktons is a name pigeon and wild bird keepers already trust, which counts for something when the product itself carries almost no other information.
