Specifications

Brand: Bob Martin

Full description

A litter tray that's just been cleaned can still smell by evening, because it's the bacteria breaking down what's in there that causes most of the odour, not the waste itself sitting there.

This is a sprinkle-on powder rather than a litter itself — you add it onto the litter already in the tray. Bob Martin's own figure is that it kills 99% of harmful bacteria, and it's marketed as a way to cut down the resulting odour rather than mask it with scent.

For cats

What's not specified. Bob Martin don't give us an ingredient list or a recommended top-up frequency, so we can't tell you how often a 300ml container needs reapplying in a multi-cat household versus one cat.

Who it's for: owners managing tray odour between full litter changes, especially in a home with more than one cat where the tray gets used harder.

Bob Martin Felight Litter Freshener

Why we chose it

It's a low-cost top-up rather than a replacement for the litter itself, so it's an easy thing to keep a spare of. The 99% bacteria figure is Bob Martin's own claim, not ours, but it's specific rather than vague, which is more than most freshener packaging bothers with. It sits well alongside a wood or clumping litter rather than replacing either.
