Not every owner wants an insecticide on their dog's skin, and a plant-based repellent is the alternative for exactly that reason — it works by putting fleas off rather than killing them outright. Beaphar's VETOpure is built around that distinction for larger dogs specifically.

It uses Margosa extract (5.0% w/w) and ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate (4.9% w/w), alongside eucalyptus citriodora oil, to repel fleas for up to 4 weeks per application. Two pipettes are applied per treatment — one at the back of the neck, one at the base of the tail — for dogs over 15kg, and the pack contains 3 treatments (6 pipettes).

One thing worth knowing. This is a repellent, not an insecticide — it's built to deter fleas from biting rather than to kill an existing infestation outright, so it's better suited to prevention than to clearing a dog that's already heavily affected.

Who it's for: owners of a dog over 15kg who'd rather use a plant-based repellent as ongoing prevention than a stronger insecticidal treatment.
