Full description

Cats are obligate carnivores, so how much of a dry food's protein actually comes from named meat rather than a generic filler matters more for a cat than it does for a dog — and this recipe puts a real number behind that question.

Arden Grange's Adult Cat Chicken & Potato combines fresh chicken (26%) and chicken meat meal (25%), with potato also at 26% as the main carbohydrate. Protein sits at 31% and fat at 19%, with taurine added at 1,000mg/kg — an amino acid cats cannot make enough of themselves and must get from food.

Available in two bag sizes
Fresh chicken (26%) and chicken meat meal (25%)
Protein 31%, fat content 19%, crude ash 7%, crude fibre 2.2%
Taurine 1,000mg/kg
Calcium 1.3%, phosphorus 0.8%

On the ingredient order. Chicken and potato are both listed at 26%, so potato is not a minor addition here — it sits equal first with fresh chicken on the panel, with chicken meat meal adding a further 25% behind it. This is a genuinely chicken-forward recipe, not one where the name overstates a small percentage.

Who it's for: an adult cat on an everyday chicken-based diet, where a high named-meat content matters to the owner buying it.

Arden Grange Adult Cat Chicken Potato

Why we chose it

Fresh chicken and chicken meat meal both appear at real, checkable percentages here rather than a front-of-bag claim. That is worth knowing when a cat owner asks how much of the food is actually chicken rather than filler.
