A gravel described as Mediterranean Blue is a specific promise about colour, which sits a little oddly against a material description that says colour and size vary because it's a natural product - the label doesn't actually specify whether this shade is a natural mineral colour or a coating.

It's sold as a 2kg bag, suitable for coldwater, tropical and saltwater set-ups. It works as a planting medium with increased surface area, and it's described as maintaining pH stability rather than altering it.

What the label does not say. Pettex's own material description says colour and size vary because it's a natural product - the same description used across differently-coloured Roman Gravel bags - but it doesn't specifically confirm whether this particular blue shade is a natural mineral tone or a coated finish. If that distinction matters to your setup, it's worth checking with Pettex directly before buying.

Who it's for: fishkeepers who want a blue-toned gravel for a coldwater, tropical or saltwater tank and aren't concerned about whether the colour is natural or coated.
