Full description
Seaweed is not an ingredient many cat foods bother naming on the front, which usually means whoever put it there wants credit for the iodine it carries rather than just using it as a filler.
Applaws' Tuna with Seaweed is built on tuna whole meat at 56% and seaweed at 4%, with a vegetable gelling agent holding the jelly together. It comes out at protein 12%, crude fibre 1%, crude oils and fats 0.5%, crude ash 3% and moisture 85%. It is classed as a complementary food, made from the natural ingredients listed on the label.
- Tuna whole meat 56%, seaweed 4%, vegetable gelling agent
- Protein 12%, crude oils and fats 0.5%
- Crude fibre 1%, crude ash 3%, moisture 85%
- Complementary food, not complete
What the label doesn't say: this is a complementary food, not a complete one, so it needs feeding alongside a complete diet rather than as the whole of a cat's meals, whatever the tuna content might suggest.
Who it's for: owners after a high-fish, low-fat topper or occasional meal for a cat already on a complete diet.

Why we chose it
Tuna whole meat at 56% is a proper fish-first recipe rather than a flavoured base, and it comes in notably low in fat at 0.5%. Seaweed at 4% is also named plainly rather than buried in a generic "marine extract" line.
