Ancol's own guidance is the two-finger test - if you can't comfortably fit two fingers flat between the collar and your dog's neck, it's too tight, and if there's a lot more room than that, it's too loose. It's worth rechecking this as a matter of routine rather than only when the collar was first put on.

Collars are sized by the neck girth — the measurement around the base of the neck where the collar will sit.
How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.

The usual test for whether a collar is fitted correctly is whether you can get two fingers flat between it and your dog's neck - not one, and not four - and it's worth actually using rather than just knowing about, because 'looks about right' and 'two fingers' are not always the same collar.
The Soho Bee Collar carries that same test in Ancol's own safety guidance, alongside a fresh green design with a hand-drawn bumble bee pattern. It's made in the UK from 100% recycled webbing, and fits 20-30cm.
