A tunnel that's always exactly the same shape stops being interesting to a small pet fairly quickly, because there's nothing left to investigate once the layout is memorised. One that can be twisted into a different shape each time you set it up stays a novelty rather than becoming furniture.

The Tuff Tube is a flexible, expandable plastic tube that can be bent and twisted into whatever shape you choose, and it holds that shape once you let go. It expands up to 75cm and measures around 9cm across, and it's suitable for hamsters, rats and small gerbils.

• Expands up to 75cm

• Durable, easy-to-clean plastic

On supervision. Ancol are clear this is for supervised use only - it isn't indestructible, and their guidance is to make sure your pet can escape from it if needed and to remove it from use at the first sign of damage, rather than waiting for it to fail completely.

Who it's for: owners of hamsters, rats and small gerbils who want an enrichment tunnel they can reshape and rearrange, rather than a fixed tube that goes in the same spot every time.
