Why the range is so wide

A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel typically weighs around 5.5 to 8kg. A toy or miniature poodle sits anywhere from about 4kg to 12kg depending on which size was used in the cross. A cavapoo puppy can therefore inherit a build closer to either parent, and littermates from the same cross can end up noticeably different sizes as adults.

A more reliable check than a chart

Because the breed spans such a wide healthy range, a number on a chart tells you less than how your own dog looks and feels. Body condition scoring — being able to feel the ribs easily under a thin layer of fat, seeing a visible waist from above, and a belly that tucks up rather than sags — is the measure vets actually use, and it works regardless of which end of the cavapoo size range your dog falls into.

If your cavapoo's weight seems to be climbing steadily, dropping without explanation, or sitting well outside the general range above at full maturity, that is worth raising with your vet rather than comparing against an average that was never going to fit every dog in a mixed breed.
