Supreme is the company behind Science Selective and Tiny Friends Farm, two of the better-known single-pellet small animal food ranges. The defining idea across both is a uniform pellet rather than a mixed muesli, specifically so a rabbit, guinea pig, hamster or chinchilla cannot pick out the tasty bits and leave the rest, which is a genuine problem with old-style mixed feeds.
Why single-pellet food exists
A traditional muesli-style mix looks varied in the bowl, but most small pets will happily eat the sweetcorn and cereal flakes and leave the fibre-rich pellets behind, which means the diet they actually eat ends up nothing like the diet on the label. A single, uniform pellet removes that choice entirely — every mouthful is nutritionally identical.
This matters more for rabbits and guinea pigs than it might seem, because a diet that is short on fibre and long on starchy extras is linked to dental problems and digestive issues over time. A consistent pellet is one part of managing that risk, alongside a genuinely hay-based diet as the bulk of what they eat day to day.

Common questions
- Why won't my rabbit eat a single-pellet food after being on a muesli mix?
- This is a common transition issue, because a rabbit used to picking favourite bits from a mixed feed can be reluctant to switch to a uniform pellet at first. Introduce it gradually alongside the old food and plenty of hay, and most rabbits adjust within a week or two.
- Do guinea pigs need extra vitamin C on top of pellet food?
- Many guinea pig owners do add a vitamin C supplement or vitamin-C-rich vegetables, since guinea pigs cannot make their own and pellet vitamin C content reduces over time once a bag is opened. Check with your vet if you are unsure how much your particular guinea pig needs.
- Is hay more important than pellet food for rabbits?
- Yes, hay should make up the large majority of a rabbit's diet, with pellets as a smaller supplementary part rather than the main event. Pellet food alone, however good the formulation, is not a substitute for a genuinely hay-based diet.
- Can I feed different Supreme products to different small pets in the same household?
