Cooling Gear

Our summer cooling gear includes self-cooling mats, cooling vests and bandanas, and travel water bowls to help dogs stay comfortable in warm weather. As a buying tip, treat cooling kit as a supplement to shade, fresh water and avoiding midday walks — never as a substitute for them.

Common questions

How do cooling mats work?

Most use a pressure-activated gel or water core that draws heat away as your dog lies on it — they need no power or freezing and recharge on their own once your dog steps off.

When should I avoid walking my dog?

Skip walks during the hottest part of the day, test the pavement with your hand for five seconds first, and walk early morning or late evening in hot spells.

Do cooling vests need to be wet?

Evaporative vests are soaked in water before use and cool as they dry, so they work best in dry heat and should be re-wetted once they feel dry.
