A clipper that pulls is almost never the clipper. It is the blade — blunt, hot, or clogged — and the animal on the table works that out long before the person holding it does, which is how a dog learns to dread the sound of a grooming session.

Wahl's Prime Series is their answer for the KM Supera. Every blade is precision ground from solid high-carbon steel, and the set is grooved so it runs cooler through a long session, which is the difference between one dog and a full day of them. There is a quick-change system, so it clips on and off for cleaning, oiling or swapping without tools. And because it is solid metal rather than plated, it can be re-sharpened several times before it needs replacing at all.

On what the number means. The single most important specification on a clipper blade is its cut length, and it is not published anywhere on what we have been given — no millimetre figure and no statement of what the number in the name refers to. If you need a specific length for a particular finish, this page cannot confirm you are getting it. Check your existing blade and your clipper before ordering: Wahl name the KM Supera and nothing else, so a different Wahl machine may not take it.

Who it's for: salon groomers and serious home groomers running a KM Supera who want the manufacturer's own blade and intend to have it re-sharpened rather than replaced.
