Wahl Pro 30 Prime Series Blade

The thing that ends a grooming session is rarely the dog and rarely the clipper. It is the blade getting hot — which you tend to notice on the back of your own hand a few seconds before the dog notices it on their skin, and after that the session is over whether you had finished or not.

That is the problem Wahl are addressing with the grooving on the Prime Series: the blade is cut so it runs cooler through a long session, which is the difference between grooming one dog and grooming dogs all day. The edge is ground to a precision finish on solid high-carbon steel, and because the blade is solid metal rather than a plated edge it can go back to a sharpener repeatedly before it needs replacing outright. The fitting is a quick-change system, so it clips on and off for cleaning and swapping. Wahl describe it as made for the KM Supera Pet Clipper.

What the name does not tell you here. Nothing supplied to us states this blade's cut length in millimetres, and nothing gives a compatibility list beyond the KM Supera — so if you run a different Wahl clipper, or a machine from another maker with a similar fitting, check the mount against your own before ordering rather than assuming. There is no sharpening interval and no oiling instruction either. A clipper blade is bought by number, and buying the wrong number is an expensive way to learn the numbering.
